Life Offline organizes shared physical activity for the downtown New York community — court time and open play for young people and the adults who raise them.
To promote physical exercise, real-world social interaction, and community building within the downtown New York urban environment.
Recognizing the need to foster resilience and human connection in an era increasingly dominated by screens — as well as the unique challenges posed by limited sports and athletic space in urban settings — we secure and organize gym and court time so that neighbors have a dependable place to play.
Our programming brings youth and adults into the same rooms, on the same nights. Parents play alongside their children's teammates; kids see their neighbors show up week after week. The activity is basketball. The outcome is a community that knows one another.
Youth play
Weekly organized basketball for young people in the West Village, on reserved indoor court time.
Adult play
Open run for adults — largely the parents of our youth players — building the same habit in the grown-ups.
Access to space
We fund and coordinate gym rental in a neighborhood where athletic space is scarce and expensive.
Membership is open to residents of the West Village and the surrounding downtown neighborhoods — young people, and the adults who play alongside them.
